SOUTH Fremantle is straight through to next Sunday's WAFL second semi-final following a 98-point thumping of West Perth in the qualifying final on Saturday before Claremont kept its season alive on Sunday and ended the campaign of East Perth.

The 2018 WAFL Finals Series got underway at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday with the qualifying final between the second and third placed teams from the end of the home and away season, South Fremantle and West Perth.

West Perth was still right in the contest when Tyler Keitel kicked his team's fifth goal at the 10-minute mark of the second quarter to make it a five-point ball game.

But from that point on South Fremantle took over and kicked the game's next 13 goals to set up the eventual 22.12 (144) to 6.10 (46) victory.

The 98-point win means that South Fremantle has now defeated West Perth on nine straight occasions with the Bulldogs to face the undefeated Subiaco in next Sunday's second semi-final at Leederville Oval for a place in the 2018 Grand Final.

West Perth will be at home at Joondalup Arena to face Claremont following the Tigers' win over East Perth on Sunday.

Mason Shaw kicked another six goals for South Fremantle without a miss to now have 18 goals straight in his last three games.

Marlion Pickett was best afield with four goals to go with 26 possessions while Cory Dell'Olio kicked three goals each.

The elimination final then took place at Claremont Oval on Sunday with Claremont winning its first final since the 2012 Grand Final triumph, beating East Perth 12.11 (83) to 8.7 (55).

Claremont kicked the only three goals of the first quarter and while the Royals were back within four points early in the third quarter and again eight points early in the last, the Tigers had the answers to win by 28 points and advance to next Sunday's first semi-final against West Perth at Joondalup Arena.

Tom Lee was the outstanding forward on the ground kicking five goals for Claremont while Haydn Busher added two.

Jye Bolton racked up 29 possessions for the Tigers, Kane Mitchell 25 (13 tackles) in his 100th game, Busher 22, Tom Ledger 20 and ruckman Oliver Eastland 18 (31 hit outs).
