PEEL Thunder and Subiaco moved clear on top of the WAFL Colts ladder with Round 13 victories on the weekend while East Perth and East Fremantle were also victorious.

Round 13 of the WAFL colts season got underway on Friday night at Joondalup Arena with a full day of action planned on Saturday at the venue for the International Football Festival.

That briefly saw Subiaco claim top spot on the ladder thanks to a 14.14 (98) to 6.8 (44) victory against West Perth.

The other three matches took place on Saturday with Peel Thunder moving into top spot beating Swan Districts 16.9 (105) to 6.7 (43) at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

East Perth recorded its fourth win of the season beating South Fremantle 7.4 (46) to 5.10 (40) at Fremantle Community Bank Oval while East Fremantle defeated Claremont 15.11 (101) to 7.4 (46) at East Fremantle Oval.

Following 13 rounds of the 2018 season, Peel Thunder (8-3) sits atop the colts ladder ahead of Subiaco (8-3).

Swan Districts (7-4) is in third position with East Fremantle (7-5) and Perth (5-6) rounding out the top five.

West Perth (4-8) is just outside in sixth position ahead of South Fremantle (4-7), Claremont (4-8) and East Perth (4-7).

WEST PERTH v SUBIACO

The round of colts action began at Joondalup Arena on Friday night with West Perth hosting Subiaco with the Falcons fighting for a finals position and the Lions for top spot.

Subiaco made a strong start kicking the only three goals of the first quarter on Friday night at the Joondalup venue and then with another three goals to two in the second term they went on to lead by 26 points at half-time.

It was another four goals to one in the third quarter from the Lions and then then four more goals to three in the last as they ran out 14.14 (98) to 6.8 (44) winners against the Falcons.

Xavier Peacock kicked four goals for Subiaco to go with 10 possessions, 39 hit outs and six tackles.

Jordan Faraone also kicked three goals for the Lions, Jack Mayo two, Sandon Page two and Jack McIntosh two.

Tristan Hobley racked up 29 possessions for Subiaco, Jacob Peletier 27, Zane Shellabear Healey 24, Wil Hickmott 24, Liam Hickmott 23, Mayo 21, Jake McKinnon 20, Ben Golding 19 and Faraone 18.

Noah Clune kicked two goals for West Perth with Alec Johnson, Daniel Rowe, Lachlan Scurria and Logan Foley kicking one apiece.

Nathan Murray finished the evening with 28 possessions for the Falcons while Ben Johnson gathered 26 disposals, Tyron Hindmarsh 24, Clune 18, Rowe 16, Alec Johnson 15 and Tom O'Donnell 14.

 

PEEL THUNDER v SWAN DISTRICTS

Peel Thunder and Swan Districts went to battle over top spot in the WAFL colts on Saturday at Bendigo Bank Stadium with the home team coming away impressive 62-point winners.

Peel made a flying start on home turf kicking five goals to one in the first quarter before kicking another four to two in the second to head into the half-time break leading by 35 points.

It was another six goals in the third quarter for the Thunder while Swans didn’t score a solitary behind before Peel ended up recording the 16.9 (105) to 6.7 (43) victory.

James Wiltshire kicked four goals for Peel from five kicks with Lachlan Cullen booting three goals, Ben Middleton three and James Sturrock two to go with 20 disposals and 10 tackles.

Lachlan Riley finished with 23 possessions for the Thunder, Jake Howes 22, Michael Randall 21, Jarvis Pina 20 and Cameron Gavin 16.

Billy Chambers also finished the game with 11 disposals, five marks, 32 hit outs and a goal in the ruck.

Dylan Brockbernd kicked two goals for Swans with singles to Blake Pescud, Sebastian Bright, Jak Watson and Matthew Russo.

Joe Hinder gathered 25 possessions for Swan Districts to go with seven marks and six tackles while Pescud compiled 20 disposals, Mitchell Bain 19, Ethan Nordahl 19, Patrick Farrant 17 and Harry Edwards 17 to go with 13 hit outs and seven tackles.

 

SOUTH FREMANTLE v EAST PERTH

South Fremantle and East Perth are two teams trying to break into a colts finals position in the second half of the 2018 season setting up a tantalising match up at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday.

It's fair to say it was a slow start by both teams without a goal in the first quarter with South Fremantle kicking two behinds and East Perth failing to score at all.

East Perth then kicked the first goal of the game in the second quarter and added two more before half-time to head into the main break leading by 17 points with South Fremantle managing just three points the entire half.

South Fremantle did get on the board in the third term and by three quarter-time trailed East Perth by just 10 points setting up a thrilling finish.

Both teams kicked two goals apiece in the last quarter with East Perth holding on to win 7.4 (46) to 5.10 (40).

Reuben Pasalich kicked two goals on Saturday morning for East Perth as did Rory Sparks and Sebit Kuek.

Thomas Baulch was East Perth's other goal scorer while also racking up 32 possessions, nine marks and six tackles.

Jacob Msando also gathered 29 disposals for the Royals, Eric Bashemule 24, Ben Santella 16 and Yugusuk Soka 16. Egan Bradbury had 48 hit outs in the ruck.

Tom Weston kicked three goals for South Fremantle to go with 16 possessions and eight hit outs. Angus McKay also kicked a goal for the Bulldogs along with 39 hit outs, 10 possessions and five tackles while Brett Pitt kicked the other goal.

Jack Musika gathered 23 possessions (six tackles) for South Fremantle while Enrique Aiken-Featherstone had 22 disposals (10 tackles), Tom Blechynden 21, Lachlan Feeney 19, Toby McQuilkin 17 (10 tackles), Matthew Ward 17 and Braiden Quartermaine 17.

 

EAST FREMANTLE v CLAREMONT

East Fremantle consolidated their position inside the WAFL colts top five with a 55-point victory against Claremont at East Fremantle Oval on Saturday.

East Fremantle came out firing with an impressive start kicking five goals to one against Claremont in the first quarter, before going on to lead by 26 points at half-time.

The Sharks kicked further away in the third quarter with seven goals to no score from Claremont and East Fremantle ended up recording the emphatic 15.11 (101) to 7.4 (46) victory.

Dylan Curley, Zac Wilkinson and Ethan Brown all kicked three goals apiece for East Fremantle with Tom Wright and Corey Robinson adding two each.

Cameron Davidson amassed 22 possessions for the Sharks, Cody Smith 21 and Nick Watson 19 along with 31 hit outs and four marks in the ruck.

Robinson also finished with 18 disposals for East Fremantle, Tom Monaghan 18, Trent Rivers 18, Wright 17, Wilkinson 16 and Max Murphy 16.

Isaac Barton, Josh Robbins, Max Grant, Jye Clark, Lachlan McKay, Callum Jamieson and Taj Williams all kicked a goal each for Claremont.

Clark also gathered 24 possessions for the Tigers, Grant 19, Barton 18, Benjamin Elliott 18, Jacob Dorsett-Sawyer 18, Jack Monaghan 17, Anthony Davis 17, Lewis Henry 16 and Callum Jamieson 16.
