2017 WAFC Life Member announcedFriday, December 1, 2017 - 12:04 PM

THE West Australian Football Commission has announced that WAFC Life Membership will be awarded to long-serving community football identity Bruce Wainwright.

WAFC Chairman Murray McHenry said that Mr Wainwright had provided outstanding and distinguished service to WA football for more than 50 years as an umpire and administrator across junior and senior competitions since 1963.

“To umpire more than 1000 games of football and serve as a committee member of the West Australian Amateur Football League for 41 consecutive years is a remarkable commitment most worthy of recognition,” Mr McHenry said.

“I am delighted to acknowledge Bruce’s service to football with WAFC Life Membership, which he will now hold in addition to life membership of the Northern Districts Junior Football Council, WA Football Association and the WA Amateur Football League, as well as an Australian Sports Medal.”

Bruce will be formally inducted at the annual WAFC Life Members’ Association end-of-year function to be held on Monday, December 4 at Domain Stadium.

Induction to the WAFC Life Members’ Association is regarded as the WAFC’s highest level of recognition, distinct from life membership awarded by individual football clubs and associated bodies, and is awarded to individuals who have made an outstanding overall contribution to football in Western Australia.
