The West Australian Football Commission is working with Fremantle Football Club and WA Police to identify those responsible for removing part of a bench seat at yesterday’s AFL game at Domain Stadium.

A plank was removed from a bench seat in block 105 and has not been located.

Fans are reminded that there are still at least three events remaining at Domain Stadium including this Sunday’s West Coast Eagles v Adelaide AFL game, the WAFL Grand Final on Sunday, September 24 and the International Rules game on Saturday, November 18.

A free public Open Day is also being planned as a final farewell to the ground.

WAFC Manager Stadia and Facilities Paul Lekias said that members of the public would be given an opportunity to purchase or collect seats and other souvenirs from Domain Stadium once they were no longer required for events.

“Anyone attempting to remove items illegally without permission will be referred to Police,” he said.

“We understand that fans are keen to keep a souvenir of Subiaco as it holds such a special place in football history. However, it is really important that the heritage of the ground is respected and there is a fair process to ensure everyone gets an equal opportunity.”

“We also need to liaise closely with the legends of our game who have rooms and entrances named after them to ensure they have priority access to all of their memorabilia.”

“We will clearly communicate with everyone that is interested in obtaining a keepsake once the strategy for disposing of assets is finalised. We greatly appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding.”
