Mundella WAWFL Grand Finals: Watch Live!Thursday, August 17, 2017 - 3:22 PM - by Sandra Argese

League Grand Final: Coastal Titans v Swan Districts
2.30pm Leederville Oval

Over each round of the 2017 Mundella WAWFL season, two teams have deservedly thrust themselves into the spotlight as the unarguable benchmarks of the competition. With these two teams, we have two stories to tell.

In the red corner, the Coastal Titans are the club that, since winning their first premiership in a fairy tale debut season in 2004, are synonymous with success. 2015 was the year when the club secured its seventh premiership - just another reason why they're often sitting within the realms of the top of the ladder. This year’s minor premiers reminded us all why they’re one of the best in the business, hitting the repeat button week after week on their red-hot form.

Defeating Swan Districts with a gritty five point win a fortnight ago in the semi finals, the Titans won themselves a golden ticket into this year’s Grand Final.

In the blue corner, Swan Districts’ sit alongside the Titans as the competitions other benchmark. After all, four premierships in the past five seasons will do that.
Finishing 2017 three games clear in second position on the ladder, the Swans’ remarkable rise to success has been characterised by their prolific style of quick ball movement.

In fact, they're the only club to defeat the Coastal Titans throughout the 2017 with their three-point triumph back in round 8.
So when both clubs collide and attempt to spoil the others' party in this year’s final showdown, barely anything will separate the two - that’s if recent history repeats itself of course.
Their last two meetings have been decided by no less than five points. Swan Districts won one of those games, Coastal Titans the other.
If this doesn’t set the stage for one of the closest, most highly-anticipated grand finals of the modern era, then not much else will.

Reserves Grand Final: Swan Districts v East Fremantle
12.00pm Leederville Oval

There isn’t much going wrong for Swan Districts at the moment. In fact, all three of their WAWFL teams are grand finalists. It’s been four years since the Swans’ reserves side enjoyed premiership success, a feat they’ll be looking to replicate when they take on East Fremantle in this weekend’s Reserves Grand Final. After keeping the Coastal Titans goalless in their preliminary final meeting, the Sharks enter this year’s Grand Final brimming with confidence despite being tipped as the underdogs.

Rogers Cup Grand Final: Swan Districts v South Fremantle
10.00am Leederville Oval

A mammoth four goal haul from South Fremantle’s Ella Smith solidified the Bulldogs a comfortable spot in this year’s Rogers Cup Grand Final. They’ll come face-to-face with Swan Districts, who earnt themselves a week off as they head into the game after defeating the Bulldogs by a single point in the semi finals.
