Female Footy is waiting for you Tuesday, February 21, 2017 - 8:05 AM

The next generation of AFL Women’s stars have plenty of opportunities to get involved in footy this season with the West Australian Football Commission hosting a number of exciting events and activities.

In addition to targeted school clinics, girls aged Pre-Primary to Year 12 can take part in Free Come and Try Clinics held at locations across the wider Perth Metro in February and March.

Eight Come and Try Clinics will be held:

Ellenbrook District Open Space
4:30 - 6:30pm

Monday Feb 27
Rushton Park, Dower St Mandurah
4:00 - 5:30pm

Wednesday Mar 1
Burrendah Park, Albatross Pass
4:30 - 6:00pm

Anning Park, South Lake

These clinics will provide an opportunity for new players to learn footy skills in a fun and safe environment, and to register with their local footy club.

New participants can also head to the ‘Participation Hub’ at each AFLW Fremantle Football Club home game (see table below). There will be plenty of give-aways; including posters and player cards.  Junior Girls and Auskick matches will also be played at half time of the AFLW fixtures.

WAFC Female Football Coordinator Allana Dickie said it is important new female participants are provided the the best opportunities to get involved in footy.
 

“These events will allow new participants to connect with their local Auskick centre and club,” she said.

“There are female football competitions for all ages and abilities, and it is fantastic to have the support of AFLW Fremantle to promote the talent pathway available for all girls and especially players aspiring to play at the elite level.”
