Round 10 McDonald's WAFL ResultsSunday, May 22, 2016 - 1:20 PM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle moved clear on top of the WAFL ladder while East Fremantle inched closer to a top two spot, Peel Thunder consolidated fourth position and West Perth scored a fourth successive win as all four Round 10 matches battled the stormy conditions in Perth on Saturday.

The round began at Mandurah's Bendigo Bank Stadium and despite East Perth kicking the opening two goals, Peel Thunder got the job done kicking five of the last six of the game to win 5.9 (39) to 3.7 (25).

South Fremantle delivered a strong second half to overcome Swan Districts 19.12 (126) to 12.7 (79) at Steel Blue Oval with the Bulldogs moving a game and percentage clear on top of the ladder as a result.

East Fremantle scored a fourth straight win to improve to 6-3 winning a thriller over Claremont 6.17 (53) to 7.6 (48) at the Claremont Showground with the Tigers now having lost five on the trot.

The second grand final rematch of 2016 took place at Medibank Stadium and West Perth got a measure of revenge over Subiaco winning 11.11 (77) to 7.9 (51) on the back of kicking eight of the game's last 10 goals for their fourth successive victory.

The round began at Bendigo Bank Stadium and East Perth looked good early with the first two goals with the advantage of the breeze. But the Royals managed just one more goal the rest of the game and that didn’t come until the last term.

Michael Barlow took over for Peel with the Fremantle midfielder finishing with three goals to go with 44 possessions, 13 tackles and seven inside-50 entries in perhaps the most dominant individual performance of the WAFL season.

The game only had eight goals between the two teams but the on-baller kicked three of them to lead Peel to the win that snaps a two-game losing run to see the Thunder remain in fourth spot and the Royals fall out of the top five.

As well as the performance from Barlow, Tendai Mzungu racked up 29 possessions and eight tackles for Peel while Cameron Sutcliffe had 25 disposals, Brad Walsh 23, Rory O'Brien 21, Brady Grey 19 and Josh Deluca 18. Jack Hannath had 16 touches, 19 hit outs and a goal in the ruck.

Patrick McGinnity, Jonathan Giles and Brant Colledge were East Perth's goal scorers while Tom Barrass finished with 22 possessions and eight marks in defence. Mitch Fraser also had 22 disposals for the Royals, McGinnity 20, Kane Lucas 20, Callum Hart 20 and Nathan Blee 20.

Subiaco had won its last three games over West Perth emphatically with two of them in the finals last year, and then Round 3 this season but the Falcons scored a measure of revenge on Saturday.

West Perth kicked away in the second half with eight of the last 10 goals to win by 26 points to make it four wins in succession as the Falcons move into the top five while it was a second loss for Subiaco in the past three weeks.

West Perth coach Bill Monaghan decided to go into the game without a recognised ruckman to try and combat the influence of Subiaco's Lachlan Delahunty. He gave the job to Drew Rohde and he worked hard for 14 touches, seven tackles and 17 hit outs.

Max Duffy and Kody Manning kicked two goals each for West Perth, including one each off the ground in style in the third quarter as the Falcons were taking over the contest. Matt Johnson also booted two for the day.

Shane Nelson had another big game in the midfield with 35 possessions with Rohan Kerr finishing with 25 disposals and two goals and Trent Manzone 23 touches.

West Perth's defence was strong with Luke Meadows gathering another 24 touches and Tyler Keitel 21 while Laine Rasmussen and Joe Morrow returned well from injury. Dean Munns also restricted Leigh Kitchin to 11 touches.

Liam Ryan kicked two goals for Subiaco with Kyal Horsley racking up 34 possessions, Chris Phelan 26, Wayde Twomey 22, Simon Moore 20 and Greg Broughton 20.

Delahunty finished with 24 disposals, six marks and 40 hit outs.

Claremont and East Fremantle copped some of the worst of the stormy weather at the Showground on Saturday and in the end the Sharks held on for a five-point win but it could have been more comfortable if they capitalised on some more chances.

Claremont has been the standout team in terms of accuracy this season and that kept them in the contest on Saturday, but the Sharks had too many weapons and were in too good form. East Fremantle's win is its fourth straight and Claremont's loss was its fifth in succession.

George Hampson once again was outstanding for East Fremantle finishing with 31 possessions, 11 marks and two goals.

Liam Anthony racked up 33 disposals for the Sharks, Jamie McNamara 23, Jayden Schofield 22, Brock O'Brien 22, Dion Anthony 22, Sean Henson 19, Josh Simpson 18 and Tim Bristow 18.

Darcy Cameron kicked two goals for Claremont from 17 possessions, eight marks and 17 hit outs despite the conditions.

Keifer Yu returned to the team after a week in the reserves for 29 possessions for the Tigers with Ian Richardson finishing with 23 disposals, Jye Bolton 23, Ryan Neates 22, Tom Ledger 22, Tom Shanahan 22, Jake Murphy 21 and Matthew Davies 20.

It was top against bottom at Steel Blue Oval but for much of the contest Swans took it right up to the Bulldogs. It went goal for goal for much of the first half before South Fremantle kicked the first five goals of the third quarter.

Another seven goals to three in the final quarter and South Fremantle ran away with the 47-point win to move a game clear on top of the ladder with Swan Districts remaining a game and percentage clear in last position.

Blaine Johnson kicked five goals for South Fremantle with Ben Saunders booting four, Haiden Schloithe three, Shane Hockey two, Dylan Main two and Mason Shaw two.

Ashton Hams racked up 43 possessions for the Bulldogs, Hockey 27, Schloithe 24, Tim Kelly 23, Adam Guglielmana 21 and Ryan Cook 20. Brock Higgins dominated the ruck with 21 disposals and 41 hit outs.

Matthew Rogers kicked three goals for Swan Districts and Rudy Riddoch two with Adam Faulkner compiling 36 possessions, Matt Riggio 21 and Matthew Jukes 21.
